Spartanburg Rehabilitation Institute will begin construction this fall on a 20-bed expansion of its facility located in the North Grove Medical Park in Spartanburg, S.C. The medical rehabilitation hospital provides specialized rehabilitative care to individuals who have experienced disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses, or chronic medical conditions, including strokes, brain injuries, spinal injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, amputations, and more.
“Increasing specialized rehabilitation at our Spartanburg campus is a significant way we can better serve this community,” says Jake Socha, CEO and President of Ernest Health. “It enables us to expand support for patients’ post-acute needs while continuing the tradition of care we’ve proudly provided here for many years.”
Richard Schulz, CEO of Spartanburg Rehabilitation Institute, agrees. “The demand for specialized rehabilitative care in our area continues to grow. This expansion will allow us to meet that demand while honoring our commitment to provide patients with high-quality rehabilitative care.”
The project will bring the hospital’s total capacity to 60 private patient rooms and enlarge its therapy gym to 6,900 square feet, allowing treatment of more patients. The facility also features advanced rehabilitative technology and equipment, an Activities of Daily Living suite that emulates home conditions, and an outdoor therapeutic courtyard designed for practicing mobility on different terrains.
Services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing; respiratory therapy; dietary services; case management; pharmacy services; social work services; pain management; and more. A physician-led interdisciplinary healthcare team works with patients and family members to create individualized treatment plans focused on maximizing recovery and independence.
“Additional nurses, therapists, and support staff will be hired to ensure we continue delivering the highest level of post-acute rehabilitative care,” Schulz says. “Our goal has always been to provide patients with exceptional rehabilitative services close to home, so we’re grateful for the opportunity to expand our reach as the community’s needs evolve and grow.”
Spartanburg Rehabilitation Hospital is ranked among the Top 10% of inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the nation and has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers. The hospital also holds national certifications from The Joint Commission in Parkinson’s disease, amputee, and stroke rehabilitation.
