Spartanburg Community College (SCC) and Converse University have signed a Transfer Program Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), creating a streamlined pathway for students to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree.

The agreement establishes a formal partnership between the two institutions, ensuring that graduates of designated associate degree programs at SCC can transfer seamlessly into Converse University’s bachelor’s degree programs. The partnership is designed to enhance student success, increase access to higher education, and strengthen workforce readiness across the region.

Under the agreement, eligible SCC graduates will receive guaranteed admission to Converse, enter with junior standing, and benefit from coordinated advising and support services to guide them through the transfer process.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Converse for the benefit of our students and for our two institutions. This agreement helps to ensure that our graduates maximize their transfer credit with Converse, as they dream it, chase it, live it, and continue their educational journeys,” said William Brothers, D.B.A., Vice President for Academic Affairs at Spartanburg Community College.

“At its core, this agreement is about students and reflects our shared commitment to their success. By creating a seamless transfer pathway, SCC and Converse are removing barriers, expanding opportunity, and creating a clear, supported journey for students to earn a bachelor’s degree. This partnership strengthens the talent pipeline in our region and ensures that more Spartanburg students can pursue their goals close to home,” said William S. Case, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President for Student Success at Converse University.

In addition to simplifying the transfer process, the agreement allows for expanded program pathways, collaborative advising, and ongoing coordination between both institutions to ensure students remain on track to complete their degrees. The partnership will also support joint marketing efforts and data-sharing initiatives to continuously improve student outcomes.

This agreement reflects both institutions’ commitment to student-centered success and to building a stronger, more educated workforce in Spartanburg and beyond.
